In the Antipodes, our claim dates back to the Australian Gold Rush in the 1850s. Faced with spoiled confectionery from Britain, savvy businesses mixed them with nuts and low-quality chocolate to salvage their goods. The name "Rocky Road" was chosen to reflect the challenging journey to the goldfields.  

In America, it dates back to1929. That year, William Dreyer, an ice cream maker, combined chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and walnuts.  He named it Rocky Road to lift spirits during the Great Depression.  

The exact origin remains open to debate, yet both stories add to the rich history of this beloved treat.
