Here’s a short history of Milk Chocolate Macadamias and why we champion these delicious chocolate coated nuts.
Chocolate arrived in Europe from South America in the 1500s. By the 1680s an Irish physician Hans Sloane was marketing a milk chocolate drink for its medicinal properties. In those days it was generally accepted that “restored balance and promoted health”, and provided “energy and warmth”.
By the late 19th Century a canny Swiss chocolatier, Daniel Peter, figured out how to make a chocolate bar. The combination of cocoa, butter and condensed milk in a solid form turned out to be a significant breakthrough in the industry. Thanks Dan!
It was not long before all types of interesting foods were being added to chocolate bars, this brings us to our delicious, crisp macadamias. We have taken chocolate, the universally popular treat, and used it as a platform to deliver a burst of nutty goodness.
This goodness will restore your balance if you’re feeling out of sorts. If you need a pick me up then a handful of these balls will fill you with energy and warmth!
